Sitters: What to Do After the Kids Fall Asleep

  1. Tidy up/Clean – You and the kids most likely had a great time together, and with that fun comes some mess. Be sure to clean/tidy up any dishes, surfaces, or area messes made on your watch. It doesn’t hurt to leave the house looking a little better than when you arrived. This is a great way to assure you are the family’s top pick for future bookings.
  2. Work/Homework/Read – You have some time to yourself, this is a great chance to get ahead on some upcoming schoolwork/projects. Nothing is better than checking things off your to-do list. Find a productive way to pass time but maintain awareness and vigilance of your responsibility as a babysitter.
  3. Send an update to the parents – Use your downtime to send a quick update to the parents on how the night is going. Include any photos of all the fun you had. Checking in will make the parents feel more comfortable with their time away, and they can give you any updates on what to expect the rest of the night.
  4. Relax– Watch a movie, scroll through social media, or beat your highest level on Candy Crush. Once kids are situated for the night, you are free to relax and pass the time. Just be sure you stay alert for the kid’s needs and able to communicate with the parents should they need you!
